Log Burner Stoves are here to stay.
There’s no sign of log burner stoves disappearing anytime soon. The UK Government will not ban wood-burning stoves or log burners despite questions raised about environmental impact, as some people can’t heat their homes any other way, a recent report has said. For anyone who has a stove we all know how nice they are to have and how they can offset other expensive energy costs.
The much-scrutinised stoves allegedly emit more pollution than all UK cars combined, and climate groups have called for more action to tackle them, including a ban. These emissions are largely due to non eco stoves and using wet and dirty fuel. A UK Government environmental improvement plan released this January has confirmed that a ban will not occur due to increased demand driven by the energy crisis, reports UK media. It seems stoves are getting a bad name, but it’s not all stoves across the board.
It is estimated that over 200,000 wood burners are installed yearly in the UK, and some homeowners are reliant on the appliances, for example, if they live off the grid. In a recent poll, 81 per cent of those surveyed did not want them banned, despite the suggested effects on people’s health. For many wood burners are the only source of heat.
“In rural areas, there are many people with an increased reliance on solid fuel appliances that need to be considered.”
Utilising kiln dried logs have less moisture in that most logs which is our main source of wood for our eco log burner stoves at Nash’s. What you put in your stove is essential to these reports of harmful emissions. Using kiln dried logs is key to reducing these negative impacts.
It significantly reduces the emissions from wood burners, with untreated, non-kiln-dried timber considerably dirty and damaging to animal and human health. Even wet logs on an open fire are harmful to our health. So if you are considering getting a stove, source an eco conscious brand with clean wood, which is what we can offer you at Nash’s Supplies.
